Your daily news updates FAST

Your daily news, FAST

Lady speaking into a microphone for a podcast.

It’s 5 am. Your alarm goes off. You hit snooze a few times. You’re not ready for the day yet. You haven’t had your coffee and scrolled through the news. You don’t have time, at least you don’t think you do. Afterall, you always want your news updates fast, not slow.

Now you’re awake and checking your phone for daily updates, looking at what you’ve missed in the last 8 hours, and checking your emails. Hopefully, you have no super urgent emails to reply to at 5:30 am, but sometimes it does happen! There are several ways you can get your daily news fast and before 7 am without sitting down and watching the news channel on TV.

  1. Snapchat news. Snapchat allows you to subscribe to different daily stories to watch in your newsfeed. There are several newsfeed sources that cover daily news from the good to the bad. If you’re looking for more trendy news, Snapchat is also the way to go.
  2. Podcasts. There are several daily podcast that cover daily news and some of them are covering daily national news in less than 10 minutes. Podcasts are great for listening to while you’re working, on the way to work in the car, or on your break. Here are a couple of podcasts to try out:
    • theNewsWorthy with Erica Mandy: Daily news in less than 10 minutes
    • Buzzfeed News: a visual version of Buzzfeed News is available on Snapchat, but Buzzfeed does offer a daily news podcast that is quick and informal.
    • News channels like Fox, CNN, MSNBC, Good Morning America…etc.
  3. Apps. There are several free news apps available to download for daily news updates. Here are a few of the best ones:
    • Pocket: Pocket is an app for later reading. Articles you may stumble upon on twitter, facebook, or Linkedin can be saved here to be read later on. You can save them to Pocket and keep scrolling through your feed without forgetting about that interesting article you wanted to read.
    • SmartNews: SmartNews analyzes trending topics and articles and categorizes the news you want to see into your own personalized, clutter-free, newsfeed.
    • Feedly: Feedly is an app for avid readers. You can compile the publications you want to read and bookmark other articles to read and customize them in your own “e-book” of daily reading.
