A day in the life of a Social Media Specialist

The day starts with checking out the latest trends on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Depending on what kind of social media they run, they might also check out what’s happening on LinkedIn, Google+, Tumblr, and Pinterest. It is important that they are following the top accounts, ones that post the most often and that are relevant to their accounts and their business. Of course, every social media platform houses different trends and different kinds of posts. For example, Twitter is a giant collection of smaller thoughts, ideas, and quick information. Instagram is a collection of photos and graphics showing the daily activities or updates from a person, business, or account.

A business Instagram account consists of daily posts about industry related topics, quotes, and trends. A business Instagram account goes hand-in-hand with a business Twitter accounts. Posting related and trending daily posts is what keeps the account active and growing, and that is what followers want to see. Instagram is becoming the top way to reach the younger audience. Facebook and Twitter continue to target the older audiences and anyone including and above the Generation Y. So, for a business Instagram account, try to focus on a younger type of post. Use the right hashtags, follow other top accounts, interact with them, and keep up with the latest Instagram trends including stories and highlights.

Keeping the website, blog, and email marketing updated is vastly important for a business focusing on growing it’s social media marketing presence. Find out what your readers and followers are reading, sharing, and following. Post similar content, but make sure it is your original content. Keeping up with your customer and your target market is the best thing you can do as a social media specialist.
